Puri Rai Restaurant

Got food poisoning from the calamari... This is something that should not happen in a restaurant!

Warning: I got Bali belly from this restaurant!! (Probably from the mayonnaise)

Eggplant with peanut sauce: The eggplant was undercooked and cold, as was the rice.

Steak with potatoes: The steak was okay, but not particularly good. The potatoes and side vegetables were also cold.

Avocado sandwich: Lots of sauce, eggplant still crunchy. It arrived without avocado! I pointed this out to the waitress, and she said they didn't have any avocado that day. This wasn't mentioned when I ordered. At least they asked if I wanted something else, which I declined before it ended up in the trash. I was still charged full price for it, though.

Conclusion: We felt a bit cheated. Four items we ordered from the menu were missing. With the sandwich, I had the feeling they were hoping I wouldn't notice the avocado was missing. The menu promises many good things, but it seems they were only included for the sake of a visually appealing menu. Significantly worse compared to other restaurants in Bali, and the waiter was not what one is used to in Bali.

We stopped here for a meal after diving. I had the vegetarian club sandwich, my companions had the curry and satay skewers; we were all very happy with the selection and everyone enjoyed their food. I can't confirm the so-called "Bali belly" here, even though there was mayonnaise on my sandwich. There were absolutely no problems.
